Joyce Bates

Joyce passed after fighting leukemia for a short time. She was a warm, caring, loving and private person. She was a loyal friend and amazing coworker. During her more than 20 years at Kaiser Permanente in the Medical Legal Services/Risk Management Dept. she made the workplace and her coworkers better, just by her calm presence. She adopted several cats over the years giving them each a good home. She ran the Hawaii Marathon in her younger years.

Throughout her life, Joyce had a love of travel visiting places like Israel and the Middle East, spent time in Hawaii and visiting family in Indiana. Joyce always said “travel is the best education.” She had a love of genealogy and travelled to Salt Lake City to dive into the records.

She is survived by her mother, two brothers and one sister as well as many nieces and nephews.
